4. With the focus control handle and universal bracket/gearbox firmly attached, you can connect the drive cable. Start by
taking one end of the cable in your hand – observe the flat-head tip (H) protruding – this flat-head will fit into a slot located in
the threaded socket (I) of the focus control handle. Align the flat-head tip with the slot in the socket (I) and insert, holding it so
the focus control handle can be turned enough to ensure a proper fit. If the flat-head tip is firmly in place, the tip on the other
end of the drive cable will rotate smoothly. Slide the threaded metal cap onto the threaded socket and tighten thoroughly (J).

5. Attaching the drive cable to the gearbox is essentially the same as described in step 4. Align the flat-head tip of the cable
with the slot in the socket located on the gearbox (L). Insert the flat-head tip and hold the cable in place, turning the focus
control handle until the whole unit moves smoothly – at this point, the brass gear should easily turn the focus ring on the lens.
Once the whole unit rotates smoothly, you can slide the threaded metal cap (M) onto the threaded socket and tighten it
thoroughly. Be sure that the cable is inserted all the way before tightening down the metal cap.

STRICT WARNING

NEVER BEND THE FOCUS DRIVE CABLE MORE THAN IT IS BENT IN ITS ORIGINAL PACKING (WITH

THE TIPS TOUCHING TO FORM ONE LOOP). IF YOU NEED TO PACK THE VZ-FC FOCUS CONTROL OR
RETURN IT TO VARIZOOM, PACK IT ONLY IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX (THE LARGER OUTER BOX) OR ONE

THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO COIL THE CABLE TIGHTLY OR OTHERWISE BEND IT SHARPLY

(AT LEAST 14 X 14 INCHES / L x W). DAMAGE CAUSED BY OVER-BENDING OR TWISTING THE CABLE

IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY! IF THE CABLE IS DAMAGED BY EXCESSIVE BENDING OR

TWISTING, IT CANNOT BE REPAIRED AND IT WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT THE BUYER’S

EXPENSE.
