threshold!compensation!level!is!added!to!the!Threshold!setting!to!produce!the!effective!
threshold!used!to!determine!the!signal!level!required!to!open!the!gates.!For!example,!if!
Threshold!is!set!to!L10!dB!and!Background!threshold!compensation!reads!L10!dB,!the!
effective!threshold!is!L4!dB!(adding!two!equal!signals!produces!a!resultant!6!dB!higher).!
