Creating a VLAN
The procedure for creating a new VLAN is divided into the following
phases:
❑ Phase 1: Assigning a VID and name and specifying the port
members
❑ Phase 2: Converting tagged ports into untagged ports
Performing Phase 1 is required whenever you create a new VLAN. Every
VLAN must have a name, VID, and ports. You will need to perform Phase
2 if some or all of the ports of a VLAN will be untagged ports or if you
want to create a port-based VLAN. Ports that you want to function as
untagged ports must be converted by changing their PVIDs, as
explained in Phase 2.
To create a new VLAN, start by performing the procedure in Phase 1.
Note
You cannot remove ports rom the Default VLAN unless they already
belong to another VLAN. Additionally, ports removed from all other
VLANs are returned to the Default VLAN.
