About Noise Canceling (NWZ-E573/E574/E575 only)

Notes on using the Noise Canceling function

The internal microphone embedded in the headphones picks up ambient noise. Your Walkman
generates an antiphase sound wave against the ambient noise to reduce it. The Noise Canceling
function can reduce unwanted ambient noise especially in a vehicle such as an airplane, train,
bus, etc., allowing you to enjoy music at a low volume.

The waveform of the ambient noise (original sound).
The internal microphone embedded in the headphones picks up the ambient noise. Then,
the Noise Canceling circuit analyzes the waveform of the noise.
The antiphase waveform against the noise.
Your Walkman generates an antiphase waveform against the noise to cancel it out.
The composite waveform. Two waveforms cancel each other out.
The original waveform and antiphase waveform combine to cancel each other out,
reducing ambient noise.

Notes on using the Noise Canceling function

If the supplied headphones are not used properly, the effect of the Noise Canceling function
may be compromised. To make the most of the function, use the correct size earbuds to fit
your ears and insert the headphones into your ears snugly.

Rubbing noises may occur while wearing headphones. This is not a malfunction.
The Noise Canceling function mainly reduces ambient noise in the low frequency bands and
has less effect on ambient noise in the higher frequency bands, such as voices and ringing
tones. It has no effect on certain sounds.
Do not cover the microphone part of the headphones (

) with your hands, etc., otherwise

the Noise Canceling function may not work.

You may hear a slight noise when the Noise Canceling function is active. This is operational
noise of the Noise Canceling function and not a malfunction.
You may feel the Noise Canceling function does not work or noise is louder in a quiet
