In the event the timer has a short (i.e., the wires are cut
or exposed and are touching metal that would interfere
with the current flow), while in operation, the timer
recognizes the error and stops the timer functions
immediately to protect the circuit board from possible
short circuit. Simultaneous to stopping the unit, the
timer will flash a “SHORT” error message on the LCD
to notify the user of the problem. If for some reason the
short is resolved before the next scheduled feed time,
the unit will activate as previously programmed.
However, the unit will not activate if the short has not
been resolved.

If you open the lid and notice the flashing “SHORT”
message on the screen, proceed to check both the
battery lead wires and motor lead wires to make sure
no copper is exposed and making contact with a metal
surface. Once the source is found and resolved, press
the “TEST” button to insure the short has been
resolved.
