Accessories

• 80 Grit punched clip-fit sanding sheets x4
• Replacement brushes for motor x 2

Unpacking your Tool

• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Fully familiarise yourself with all

its features and functions

• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If

any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before
attempting to use this tool

Preparation

WARNING: Check that the tool is unplugged from the power supply before
attempting to fit or replace sanding sheets or other attachment

Fitting a hook and loop sanding sheet

1. Align the holes in a suitable hook and loop sanding sheet with the

holes in the base

2. Press the sheet firmly onto the base to secure it in place

Fitting a pre-punched sanding sheet using the clips

1. Reduce the rigidity of the sanding sheet by rubbing its smooth side

over the edge of a table (or similar)

2. Lift both the Paper Clamp Release Levers (8) to release the Paper

Clamps (1) at the front and rear of the sander

3. Place one end of the sanding sheet into a clamp and push the paper

clamp release lever down to secure that end of the sheet in the clamp

4. Stretch the sanding sheet over the baseplate and into the other paper

clamp. Secure the paper in the clamp using the same procedure as
above (Step 3)

Fitting sanding paper without pre-punched holes

1. Fit the sanding sheet using method as above for hook & loop or clip

fitting as appropriate

2. Press a punch plate against the face of the fitted sanding sheet; the

raised points will punch the required holes in the paper

NOTE: It is important to

always use punched paper, as the dust extraction

mechanism will not function otherwise

Dust extraction

• Fitting the dustbag will reduce the dust in the air around the work area
and create a cleaner, safer work environment
• Fit the Dustbag (9) to the Dust Extraction Port (7)
• For best results, empty the dustbag regularly

Operating Instructions

• Put on all safety equipment required to operate this tool
• It is highly recommended that you wear a suitable breathing mask
whenever you operate this machine. All wood/paint dust is hazardous to
health, and some woods are toxic

Switching on

• Always grip the sander firmly, using both hands, on the handles provided
• To start the sander, depress the Trigger Switch (4); to stop the sander,

release the trigger switch

• This machine is fitted with a Lock On Button (5) for continuous operation.

To use this function, fully depress the trigger switch then press the lock
on button

• You can now release the trigger switch and the machine will continue

to operate

• Press the trigger switch again and then release it to stop the machine

Variable speed

• Use the Variable Speed Dial (2) to set the speed of the sander to suit the

sanding task

• The higher the number, the faster the speed

Sanding tips

• Do not bring the sander into contact with the workpiece until the motor

has gained full speed. Remove the sander from the workpiece before
releasing the trigger to stop the machine

• Always start with a coarse grit paper, and work through progressively

finer grit papers until the desired finish is achieved

• Only apply moderate pressure to the sander. Pressing too hard onto the

work surface may overheat the motor or damage the workpiece

• Sand evenly over the work surface; as the machine works in an orbital

motion it is not necessary to work with the grain

• Only use the sander 'flat on' to the workpiece. Tilting the sander onto its

edge will damage your work

Maintenance

WARNING: Always remove the plug from the mains power supply before
carrying out any maintenance/cleaning.

Cleaning

• Keep your machine clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal

parts to wear quickly, shortening the machine’s service life. Clean the
body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If available, use
clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes

Brushes

• Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
• Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure,
or visible sparking
• A spare pair of replacement brushes is included with this product
• If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, fit the replacement
brushes. If in any doubt as to how to proceed, have them replaced at an
authorised service centre

Storage

• Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children

Disposal

• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic

equipment, with household waste

• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the proper

way to dispose of tools
