Camera problems
Status Solution
Camera does not
turn on ■ Make sure the correct battery type is installed ( page 55 ).
■ Insert a new or charged battery.
Camera does not turn
off and the lens does
not retract
Camera buttons and
controls do not
function
Lens does not extend
when the camera turns
on or does not retract ■ Make sure the battery is charged.
■ Turn the camera off, then on again.
■ Make sure the camera is not in Favorites mode.
■ If the problem still exists, get help ( page 47 ).
In Review, a blue or
black screen is
displayed instead of
a picture ■ Transfer the picture to the computer.
■ Transfer all pictures to the computer ( page 12 ).
■ Take another picture. If the problem continues, change the image
storage location to internal memory (
page 32 ).
Pictures remaining
number does not
decrease after taking a
picture ■ Continue taking pictures. The camera is operating normally.
(The camera estimates the number of pictures remaining after each
picture is taken, based on picture size and content.)
Picture orientation is
not accurate ■ Set the Orientation Sensor to ON ( Orientation Sensor, page 34 ).
