Chapter 4. Installing the ImageUltra Builder program
Before using the information in this chapter, you must have a good understanding of the image-creation
process and be familiar with some of the terminology associated with the ImageUltra Builder program. Take
the time to read Chapter 1 “ImageUltra Builder capabilities” on page 1 and Chapter 2 “An overview of the
image process” on page 11.
Then, review the minimum requirements, prerequisites, considerations, and limitations in this chapter before
you install the ImageUltra Builder program.
Minimum requirements
The following information provides the minimum requirements for the ImageUltra Builder console, server,
and the target computers.
ImageUltra Builder server computers
Computers intended to be used as ImageUltra Builder servers, must meet the following minimum
requirements:
Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
Note: MDAC 2.7 or higher is required for ImageUltra Builder. It is included in Microsoft Windows
XP Professional, but not in Windows 2000. If you are using Microsoft Windows 2000, you
need to download Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 or higher from Microsoft at:
Disk Space: 200 MB of available disk space to install the ImageUltra Builder program
Repository: The amount of disk space required for the repository depends on the size and number of
modules that will be stored in it.
Networking requirements: The server computer must be network enabled for a direct-network installation
or a standard network deployment with local installation. There are no networking requirements if images are
installed from Distribution Discs.
ImageUltra Builder console computers
Computers intended to be used as ImageUltra Builder consoles, must meet the following minimum
requirements:
Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
Note: MDAC 2.7 or higher is required for ImageUltra Builder. It is included in Microsoft Windows
XP Professional, but not in Windows 2000. If you are using Microsoft Windows 2000, you
need to download Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 or higher from Microsoft at:
Disk space: 1.5 GB of available disk space to install the ImageUltra Builder program
Repository: The amount of disk space required for the repository depends on the size and number of
modules that will be stored in it.
