EN Preparing the Camera
Inserting the battery and the
SD/SDHC memory card (sold
separately)
Always use SD/SDHC memory cards with this
camera. Do not insert any other types of memory
card.

Insert the battery by putting in the ▼ marked side
fi rst, with the B (FE-4040)/C (FE-4020/X-940) mark
toward the battery lock knob.
Damage to the battery exterior (scratches, etc.) may
produce heat or an explosion.
Insert the battery while sliding the battery lock knob in
the direction of the arrow.
Slide the battery lock knob in the direction of the
arrow to unlock, and then remove the battery.
Turn off the camera before opening the battery/card
compartment cover.
When using the camera, be sure to close the battery/
card compartment cover.
Insert the card straight until it clicks into place.
Do not touch the contact area directly.

Charging the battery with the
supplied USB-AC adapter
The included F-2AC USB-AC adapter (with an AC
cable or plug-in type; hereafter referred to as AC
adapter) differs depending on the region where you
purchased the camera. If you received a plug-in type
AC adapter, plug it directly into an AC outlet.
The included AC adapter has been designed to be
used only for charging. Make sure that operations
such as shooting, viewing images and so on are not
being used while the AC adapter is connected to the
camera.

The battery is not fully charged at the time of
purchase. Before use, be sure to charge the battery
until the indicator lamp turns off (up to 3 hours).
If the indicator lamp does not light, the camera is not
correctly connected or the battery, camera, or AC
adapter may be damaged.
Installing the supplied computer
software (ib)
After checking the system requirements, follow the instructions
below to connect the camera to a computer and install the
supplied computer software (ib).
System requirements
Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or later)/
Windows Vista/Windows 7
Shooting with the optimum
aperture value and shutter speed
[PROGRAM AUTO]
1 Press the n button to turn on the camera.
If the [PROGRAM AUTO] indicator is not displayed,
press the m button to display the function menu
and then set the shooting mode to P.
Press the n button again to turn off the camera.
2 Hold the camera and compose the shot.
3 Press the shutter button halfway down to focus on the
subject.
When the camera focuses on the subject, the exposure is
locked (shutter speed and aperture value are displayed),
and the AF target mark changes to green.
The camera was unable to focus if the AF target mark
fl ashes red. Try focusing again.

4 To take the picture, gently press the shutter button
all the way down while being careful not to shake the
camera.
Using the fl ash
1 Select the fl ash option in the shooting function menu.
2 Use HI to select the setting option, and press the
H button to set.

1 Press the q button.
2 Use HI to select an image.
Erasing images during playback
(Single image erase)
1 Display the image you want to erase and press G
( D).
2 Press FG to select [ERASE], and press the
H button.

1 Insert the supplied CD in a CD-ROM drive.
A setup screen will appear on the computer monitor.
2 Connect the camera to the computer.
3 Follow the on-screen instructions on your computer.
Setting the date, time and time
zone
1 Press the n button to turn on the camera.
The date and time setting screen is displayed when the
date and time are not set.
2 Use FG to select the year for [Y].
3 Press I to save the setting for [Y].
4 As in Steps 2 and 3, use FGHI and the H button
to set [M] (month), [D] (day), [TIME] (hours and
minutes), and [Y/M/D] (date order).
5 Use HI to select your home time zone and press the
H button.
Use FG to turn daylight saving time ([SUMMER]) on
or off.
Changing the display language
1 Display the [SETUP] menu.
2 Use FG to select the r (Settings 1) tab and then
press I.
3 Use FG to select [W] and press the H button.
4 Use FGHI to select your language and press the H button.
5 Press the m button.

Insérez d’abord la batterie par le côté qui porte

retirez la batterie.
Eteignez l’appareil photo avant d’ouvrir le couvercle
du compartiment de la batterie/carte.
Lors de l’utilisation de l’appareil photo, n’oubliez pas
de fermer le couvercle du compartiment de la batterie/
carte.
Insérez la carte bien droit jusqu’à ce qu’elle se mette
en place avec un léger bruit sec.
Ne touchez pas la zone de contact avec les mains.

Chargement de la batterie avec
l’adaptateur secteur USB fourni
L’adaptateur secteur USB F-2AC fourni (avec câble
d’alimentation secteur ou de type enfi chable ; appelé
ci-après adaptateur secteur) varie suivant la région
où l’appareil photo est acheté. Si vous avez reçu un
adaptateur secteur de type enfi chable, branchez-le
directement sur une prise de courant.
L’adaptateur secteur fourni est conçu exclusivement
pour la charge. Assurez-vous qu’aucune opération
telle que la prise de vue et l’affi chage d’image n’est
exécutée pendant que l’adaptateur secteur est
connecté à l’appareil photo.

La batterie n’est pas entièrement chargée lors
de l’achat. Avant l’utilisation, vous devez charger
la batterie jusqu’à ce que l’indicateur de charge
s’éteigne (3 heures maximum).
Si le voyant ne s’allume pas, l’appareil n’est pas
correctement connecté, ou la batterie, l’appareil photo
ou l’adaptateur secteur est endommagé.
Installation du logiciel

Après avoir vérifi é les exigences de système, suivez les
instructions ci-dessous pour connecter l’appareil photo à un
ordinateur, et installez le logiciel d’ordinateur fourni (ib).

Prendre des photos avec une valeur
d’ouverture et une vitesse d’obturation
optimales [PROGRAM AUTO]
1 Appuyez sur la touche n pour allumer l’appareil
photo.
Si l’indicateur [PROGRAM AUTO] ne s’affi che pas,
appuyez sur la touche m pour affi cher le menu de
fonctions et réglez le mode prise de vue sur P.
Appuyez de nouveau sur la touche n pour
éteindre l’appareil photo.
2 Tenez l’appareil photo et cadrez la photo à prendre.
3 Enfoncez le déclencheur à mi-course pour faire la
mise au point sur le sujet.
Une fois la mise au point effectuée sur le sujet, l’appareil
verrouille l’exposition (la vitesse d’obturation et la valeur
d’ouverture s’affi chent) et le repère de mise au point
automatique (AF) devient vert.
Si le repère de mise au point automatique (AF) clignote en
rouge, cela signifi e que l’appareil photo n’a pas réussi à
faire la mise au point. Reprenez la mise au point.

4 Pour prendre la photo, enfoncez doucement le
déclencheur jusqu’au fond, en prenant soin de ne pas
secouer l’appareil photo.

fonctions de prise de vue.
2 Utilisez HI pour sélectionner l’option de réglage,
puis appuyez sur la touche H pour valider.
Affi cher les photos
1 Appuyez sur la touche q.
2 Utilisez HI pour sélectionner une photo.
Effacer des photos pendant la
lecture (effacement d’image simple)
1 Affi chez l’image à supprimer et appuyez sur G ( D).
2 Utilisez FG pour sélectionner [EFFACER], puis
appuyez sur la touche H.

Réglage de la date, de l’heure et du
fuseau horaire
1 Appuyez sur la touche n pour allumer l’appareil
photo.
L’écran de réglage de la date et de l’heure s’affi che si ces
dernières ne sont pas réglées.
2 Utilisez FG pour sélectionner l’année sous [A].
3 Appuyez sur I pour sauvegarder le réglage de [A].
4 Tout comme aux étapes 2 et 3, utilisez FGHI et la
touche H pour régler [M] (mois), [J] (jour), [HEURE]
(heures et minutes) et [A/M/J] (ordre des dates).
5 Utilisez HI pour sélectionner votre propre fuseau
horaire, et appuyez sur la touche H.
Utilisez FG pour activer et désactiver l’heure d’été
([ETE]).
Changer la langue d’affi chage
1 Affi chez le menu [REGLAGE].
2 Utilisez FG pour sélectionner l’onglet r
(Paramètres 1) puis appuyez sur I.
3 Utilisez FG pour sélectionner [W], puis appuyez
sur la touche H.
4 Utilisez FGHI pour sélectionner votre langue, puis
appuyez sur la touche H.

Inserte la batería introduciendo primero el polo
que lleva la marca ▼, con la marca B (FE-4040)/
C
(FE-4020/X-940) orientada hacia el botón de
bloqueo de la batería. Si se daña el exterior de la
batería (rozaduras, etc.), ésta puede recalentarse o
explotar.
Inserte la batería al tiempo que desliza el botón de
bloqueo de la batería en la dirección de la fl echa.
Deslice el botón de bloqueo de la batería en la
dirección de la fl echa para desbloquear la batería, y a
continuación extráigala.
Apague la cámara antes de abrir la tapa del
compartimento de la batería/tarjeta.
Al usar la cámara, asegúrese de cerrar la cubierta del
compartimento de la batería/tarjeta.
Insértela derecha hasta que encaje en su posición
con un chasquido.
No toque el área de contacto con las manos.

Carga de la batería con el
adaptador USB de CA suministrado
El adaptador USB de CA F-2AC incluido (con un
cable de CA o tipo enchufe; en adelante denominado
adaptador de CA) varía según la región en la que se
adquirió la cámara. Si recibió un adaptador de CA
tipo enchufe, enchufe el cargador directamente en la
tomacorriente de CA de la pared.
El adaptador de CA incluido ha sido diseñado
exclusivamente para la carga. Asegúrese de no
realizar tomas, visualizar imágenes, etc. con la
cámara cuando el adaptador de CA esté conectado.

La batería no está totalmente cargada en el momento
de la compra. Antes de usarla, asegúrese de
cargar totalmente la batería hasta que se apague el
indicador de luz (hasta 3 horas).
Si el indicador de luz no se ilumina puede que la
cámara no se haya conectado correctamente o que la
batería, cámara o adaptador de CA estén dañados.

Después de comprobar los requisitos del sistema, siga las
siguientes instrucciones para conectar la cámara a un ordenador
e instalar el software suministrado del ordenador (ib).

Pulse el botón n de nuevo para apagar la
cámara.
2 Apunte la cámara y encuadre la toma.
3 Presione el botón disparador hasta la mitad de su
recorrido para enfocar el objeto.
Cuando la cámara enfoca el objeto, se fi ja la exposición
(se muestran la velocidad del obturador y el valor de
apertura), y la marca de destino AF cambia de color al
verde.
Si la marca de destino AF parpadea en rojo, signifi ca
que la cámara no se ha podido enfocar. Intente volver a
enfocar.
