The AirStation supports the TCP and
UDP protocols for Network Address
Translation.
Packet Filtering
Packet Filtering configures advanced
public services on your local network,
such as web servers, FTP servers,
email servers, gaming servers or oth-
er specialized Internet services that
require delivery of specific requests
through the router to the appropriate
local network device for delivering
specific appication requests.
When unique requests for a particular
response are delivered to your router
via the Internet, the router will forward those requests to the designated local network device for
appropriate response.
Because when DHCP is in use, IP Addresses could change for a client device over time, it is best
practice to assign local network devices that have packet filtering rules assigned to them to use a
fixed IP Address to prevent failures due to a change in IP Address that the packet filter does not
acknowledge.
