2 Crawler loaders in tunnelling
Liebherr Crawler Loaders combine customer benefits
such as performance, efficiency, reliability, comfort and
security at the highest level.
During tunnelling, the handling capacity of these crawl-
er loaders is second to none. This is the result of the
crawler’s unsurpassed agility, its power cycle and high
degree of filling capacity of the loader buckets. Espe-
cially, where space is limited, the hydrostatic drive of
the LR 614, LR 624 and LR 634 models pays off. Two
independently operating drive units guarantee unlimited
maneuverability for full power turns and counterrota-
tion. The hydraulic equipment is based on a massive
„Z-bar linkage“ design that allows for very high breakout
forces during the loading of rocks.
Liebherr crawler loaders are powered by economical
diesel engines running at a constant engine speed. This
gives the crawlers a very economical advantage during
tunnelling projects. A long service life, even under the toughest conditions
during tunnelling is one of the outstanding features of all
components. Parts subject to heavy wear are made of
high-strength materials, while very sensitive areas, such
as the final drives or hydraulic lines are protected by the
best possible means. Liebherr’s single-lever for work
and drive hydraulic system literally allows the crawler to
be manoeuvred by fingertip. Functions integrated into
both joysticks make all processes easy.
Safety plays a huge role with all Liebherr crawler load-
ers. The tested and internationally certified roll-over and
rock protection structure (ROPS/FOPS) guarantees a
safe working environment for the operator of the crawler
loader. Furthermore, the front windshield can be fitted
with a grille to provide further protection from falling
rocks.
