INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
for
SBS97 Steering Box Skid Plate
Please read and understand all instructions before beginning the installation. Please read the terms and policies
on the back of these instructions.
The SBS97 steering box skid plate is designed to fit the following Jeep® vehicles: 1997-2006 TJ Wranglers .
STEP 1:
Remove the DS lower bumper bolt and both lower steering gear box bolts.
STEP 2:
Install the new skid plate using the factory bolts that you just removed, ( we recommend using
Loc Tight on the steering gear bolts). Torque the 2 steering gear bolts to 70 ft. lbs. and the lower bumper bolt to
77 ft. lbs.
STEP 3:
Now center punch the bumper using the skid plate as a guide and drill this hole to 1/2”. Install the
new 1/2” bolt with flat washer on top and bottom and tighten nut to 80 ft. lbs.
STEP 4:
