Printed Ruled Lines
are Displaced

Print head is
misaligned

Align the print head. Refer to

“Aligning Print Head-Auto head align” in the

Direct Printing Guide

.

Print Quality not set
properly

Be sure to set the

Print Quality setting to High in Windows, or Fine in

Macintosh.

1. Open the printer properties dialog box.
2. On the

Main tab, click High for the Print Quality setting.

When you cannot choose the

High setting or when the print quality does

not improve, select

Custom, click Set and then adjust the Quality bar for

higher print quality.

1. Open the

Print dialog box.

2. Select

Quality & Media from the pop-up menu and then click Detailed

Setting.

3. Drag the

Print Quality slide bar to Fine end.

Printed Paper Curls
or Ink Blots

Paper being used is
too thin

Use photo paper such as Canon’s Photo Paper Pro to print photos or pictures
in deep color that have high color saturation.

Incorrect paper type

On the

Main tab of the printer driver, ensure that the Media Type selected

matches the paper loaded.

In the

Print dialog box of the printer driver, select Quality & Media form the

pop-up menu, and then ensure that the

Media Type selected matches the

paper loaded.

Printed Surface is
Scratched/Back of
Paper is Smudged

Inappropriate paper
type is used

Check to see if the paper you are printing on is too thick or curled.

Note that smudging may occur at the top and bottom edges of the paper when
using

Borderless Printing. Ensure that the paper you are using is compatible

with

Borderless Printing.

Paper feed roller is
dirty

Clean the paper feed roller.
Refer to

“Back of Paper is Smudged/Paper Does Not Feed Properly/Printed

Surface is Scratched” in “Troubleshooting” of the

Direct Printing Guide

.

Inside of the printer is
dirty

If the inside of the printer is dirty, printed paper may be smudged. Periodically
clean the inside of the printer.
