DI LU TION PRO CE DURE
If the test result in the nitrate, phosphate, potassium, ammonia nitrogen or
sulfate test is greater than the highest comparator value it is necessary to
perform a dilution. Dilutions are made with Deionized Water (5115PT).

TEST PRO CE DURES

pH
A pH value of 7.0 indicates a neutral solution. Values above 7.0 indicate
alkaline solutions, while values below pH 7.0 indicate acid solutions.
1.

Fill test tube (0230) to 5 mL line with the sample.

2.

Add 10 drops of *Hydroculture pH Indicator
(5132). Cap and mix.

3.

Insert test tube into the Hydroculture pH
Comparator (5304). Match sample color to a
color standard. Record as pH.
NOTE:

If the pH of the sample is not

between 6.2 and 6.8, it must be adjusted to 6.5
before proceeding with the following tests. If
the pH is below 6.2 add *Sodium Hydroxide,
1.0N (4004WT), one drop at a time,
periodically checking the pH until it is
brought into the range of 6.2 to 6.8. If the pH
is above 6.8, add *Hydrochloric Acid, 1.0N
(6130WT) in the same manner.
