Operation Sheet
Problem
Supplied Remote Commander does not control the receiver. (RM-PP411 and RM-306)
Models Effected
HT-DDW740; HT-DDW840; STR-DE485 and STR-DE685
Solution
Perform a receiver set up using the following procedure:
1.) Locate the Menu Control buttons on the front of your receiver. (see figure below)

2.) Next, push the SET UP button located to the upper left hand side of the Menu Buttons.
(see figure below)

3. ) Press the '<' and '>' MENU buttons until the display on the front of the receiver reads the following:
C. MODE. AVX
4. ) Finally, you will need to reset the Remote Commander mode. If you own an HT-DDW840 or
STR-DE685 receiver, press the top or bottom of the JOG DIAL and toggle to the following setting:
AV2
The system will automatically enter this mode as soon as you toggle to it.
If you own an HT-DDW740 or STR-DE485 receiver, press the '+' and '-' MENU buttons until you
see the AV2 setting (as mentioned above)
After (5) five seconds, the display will return to the mode that it was in prior to performing this
procedure.
If you have performed this procedure and the Remote Commander still will not control your
your receiver, try going carefully through the procedure again. If you are still experiencing
problems, please call Sony's toll free customer service number at 800-222-SONY (7669).
