Outfeed Zone Hazard

DANGER

Rotational force of blade can pull
hands and fingers back into blade.
Touching, holding, or pulling on out-
feed side of workpiece while blade is
still spinning will result in fingers,
hand or arm being cut off. To reduce
risk of outfeed hazard:

[

Set pawls and riving knife; they act as par-

tial barrier to outfeed side.

[

Start and finish cut from infeed side.

[

Keep both hands on infeed side.

[

Keep hands away from outfeed side.

[

Push workpiece through to complete cut.

Do not reach around to pull it.

[

If blade jams, turn saw off, remove yellow

key, then free blade.

Kickback

Kickback is the uncontrolled propelling of the
workpiece back toward the user.

WARNING

Kickback can happen when blade is
pinched or bound by workpiece.
Pinching or binding can happen when:

• pawls and riving knife are not used or not

set correctly

• riving knife is not aligned with blade
• blade is not parallel to fence
• workpiece is twisted or warped and rocks

on table top

• pressure is put on outfeed side of work-

piece

• workpiece is released before being

pushed past pawls

• user touches or tries to pull workpiece

through outfeed side before blade has
stopped spinning.
