Instructions for cutting hair
Operations to be carried out before starting to cut hair
1. Check the hair clipper to ensure that the blade teeth are free of excess oil. Switch it on for a short time and
check that it is running smoothly. Wipe off excess oil leaking from between the blades.
2. Seat the person whose hair you are cutting in front of you so that their head is at your eye level. This helps the
operation of the trimmer and gives you a clear view of your work.
3. Ensure the hair you are trimming is dry.
4. Before beginning the trim, comb the hair to remove any knots.
5. Place a gown about the neck and shoulders of the person having their hair cut.
Warning!
Trim hair gently and at a steady rate. Cut only a short length of hair at a time; you can continue later if required.
During the trim, comb the hair frequently to the style you are wanting to achieve.
General advice before starting to trim hair
Hair cutting requires some experience. It is much better to leave hair on the long side for the first few trimmings,
until you get accustomed to the lengths produced by each of the comb attachments.
Use of comb attachment accessories
a) Comb attachment #1 ensures a hair length of 3 mm.
b) Comb attachment #2 ensures a hair length of 6 mm.
c) Comb attachment #3 ensures a hair length of 9 mm.
d) Comb attachment #4 ensures a hair length of 12 mm.
Each comb attachment is marked in the centre of its external side to help you choose the correct comb. The length
of cut for each of the combs is represented on the figure.
• Before attaching or removing a comb attachment, shut down the appliance and unplug it from the wall
socket.
• To put on a comb attachment, adjust the groove of the toothed side of the comb attachment to the cutting
blades, then push the fixed blade into the groove of the attachment. Now snap the other end of the comb
attachment onto the fixed blade.
• To remove a comb attachment, simply snap away and lift the attachment from the blades of the trimmer.
• To realise a straight cut, let the appliance cut the way for itself through the hair. Do not force the cut by
pushing the trimmer through the hair.
• Remember to remove the hair that has been cut.
examples of hair cutting operation:
First step - trimming the nape of the neck
1. Attach the 3 mm or 6 mm comb to the trimmer.
2. Hold the edge of the cutting blades of the hair clippers upwards against the hair on the
nape of the neck and begin trimming. Start trimming in the middle of the nape of the neck from
below and move the trimmer upwards.
3. Hold the hair clipper gently in your hand and push it slightly against the head directing the teeth of the comb
attachment upwards.
Lift the hair clipper slowly, moving the teeth of the comb attachment upwards and away from the nape of the
neck through the hair. Cut only a small amount of hair at once.
Lift the hair clipper blades bit-by-bit, outwards from the bend of the nape of the neck.
4. Continue to trim the hair on the nape of the neck upwards from the lower part of the neck to the ears.
