10 ACPI Wakeup

Two wake events are possible: Wake On LAN (WOL) and Wake On USB (the Wake On USB event requires the
CPLD version 0x10 or greater, see BIOS Setup entry

Main/Board Information).

10.1 Wake On USB

10.1.1 Windows

®

XP

By default Windows

®

XP and Windows

®

Server 2003 enable USB devices, e.g. keyboard and mouse, to wake

up the board after sleep. The default behavior permits the board to enter the S1 power state for standby,
not the S3 state. Result: the operating system generates no wake event in S3. A registry entry exists to
override this selection.
Create or modify the following registry entry (key):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usb

and create or modify the DWORD value:

USBBIOSx = 0x00000000

Note: Other values than 0x00000000 are reserved for future use. This entry is applied globally to all USB
host controllers.
Another registry DWORD value named

USBBIOSHacks is unsupported and must not be used.

10.1.2 Linux

Linux normally disables the wake functionality. This can be verified within the terminal with

cat /proc/acpi/wakeup

The following command allows the activation of a wake function (example

USB0):

echo USB0 > /proc/acpi/wakeup
