Step 3: Module Installation

Several options for installation are available for the L351. For applications requiring multiple
modules in the same location, depending on the size and quantity requirements, the UCS 1000 or
1002 chassis may be used. The UCS 1000 chassis, in conjunction with model 1230 BAM, can
accommodate up to 30 L351s and the UCS 1002 can accommodate up to 14 L351s. The L351 is
also hot-swappable module and it can be inserted any time without interruption of service to other
modules.

Insert the L351 in an available slot in the 1230 or UCS 1002 making sure that the unit is lined-up
with the card guides. The module should slide into the slot with ease and make contact with the
rear connector without excessive force. Tighten the thumbscrew after insertion. The same steps
apply when installing in the UCS 1020 or 1030. See Figures 2 to 5.
