INPUT
A single input jack socket is Provided for your instrument. This is a high impedance input
designed to perfectly match the impedance of the pick-ups on a passive bass. It also has
sufficient headroom available to allow active basses to be used. Use the input gain control to
adjust for the sensitivity of your instrument.
ACTIVE
This enables an input pad for active instruments.
BRIGHT
The bright function is permanatly set to ‘Bright’ giving the tone a high end lift pre EQ. Pushed
in the ‘Bright’ button dulls the sound for a more vintage tone pre EQ.
E.Q.
The main EQ controls consist of a shelving, +/- 15dB BASS control, a variable frequency
+/- 15dB shelving TREBLE control with a variable range from 3.5kHz to 10kHz, and two semi
parametric +/- 15dB - MID controls, each with a 1 octave bandwidth covering frequencies
from 180Hz to 1.6kHz and 750Hz to 7.5kHz respectively for adjusting the LO-MID and HI-
MID sound components.
These controls work together as follows:- there are four slider controls used to boost or cut
each frequency range by up to 15dB. To the left of the LO-MID, HI-MID and TREBLE sliders
are rotary controls marked FREQ-HZ. These are used to select the frequency at which the
sliders boost or cut the signal.
These EQ facilities can be used in a number of ways – the BASS slider will boost and cut all
frequencies below 100Hz – the TREBLE slider will boost and cut the highest frequencies above
the range set by its FREQ-HZ control.
The effect of both the BASS and TREBLE sliders can be further modified by the setting of the
HI-MID and LO-MID controls, for instance if the HI-MID frequency is set to beyond 3.5kHz and
this frequency range boosted using the slider then this will add further to the high frequency
lift provided by the TREBLE control. Similarly the BASS will be affected if the LO-MID
frequency is set to its lowest range. This can be a useful way of further enhancing the upper
and lower frequencies or for making fine adjustments to these.
However where the LO-MID and HI-MID controls really start to perform their magic is
when their FREQ-EQ controls are set to somewhere within the centre of their ranges and
the selected frequencies either boosted or cut. This can produce some unique sound shapes
that are very useable. Experiment with this and see what you discover, remember that
sometimes cutting the signal at a particular centre frequency can produce just as useful
sounds as boosting. An example of this is the SHAPE facility that boosts the High and Low
frequencies and also introduces a Cut in the Mid frequencies. More is not always better
when it comes to sound sculpturing for bass.
OUTPUT
Use the output level control to adjust the playing volume of the amplifier.
HEADPHONES
A headphone jack socket is provided to allow stereo headphones to be plugged into the
amplifier for silent practice. This cuts out the main speaker when a jack plug is inserted.
DIRECT INJECT (D.I.)
A balanced D.I. Is provided on the rear panel XLR socket. This provides a post E.Q. Post
effects signal. The output signal from this XLR socket is set to a level and impedance suitable
for connecting directly into a balanced microphone input of a mixing desk for either direct
injection into the pa system or for recording. Also there is a ground lift on the DI to get rid
of any unwanted mains hum.
FUSED MAINS INLET SOCKET
This is for connection of the unit to your countries mains power supply. Please ensure that
the type and rating of mains fuse marked on the rear panel is used when this is replaced.
ON/OFF MAINS SWITCH - Using the mains cable supplied the amplifier may be connected
the to the correct voltage mains supply , Once this is done turn the power to the MiBass 2.0
on by using the rear panel ON/OFF switch. POWER ON is indicated by illumination of the
BLUE LINE Logo on the front of the amp.
SPEAKER OUTPUT
ONE SPEAKER OUTPUT is provided on SPEAKON/JACK connection socket that is able to
handle the high powers produced by these amplifiers. 8 Ohm Min Load.
