5.

INSTALL THE SHIFT LOCK PLATE

5.1.

With the gear selector in Low, position the shift
lock plate as follows: See Figure 5.1.

The shift lock plate mounts inboard of the shift
lever, with the notches facing outward, to lock
the lever in position.

The rear notch of the plate should just contact
the front edge of the shift lever.

There should be sufficient clearance between
the notch in the shift plate and the edge of the
slot in the fender console to allow the shift lever
to pass.

Do not bend the shift lock plate to follow the con-
tour of the fender.

5.2.

Mark and punch the fender console at the center
of the rear hole in the shift lock plate.

5.3.

Move the shift lever to the Neutral position.

5.4.

Drill a 3/16” hole at the spot that was just marked
and punched.

5.5.

With the counter-sunk side of the shift lock plate
facing up, attach it to the fender console using
the flat-head screw, washer, and locking nut pro-
vided in the kit. See Figure 5.5.

5.6.

Bow the shift lock plate so that it follows the con-
tour of the fender console. Position the loose
end of the shift lock plate so that there is suffi-
cient clearance for the shift lever to pass the
notch that will hold it in High range.

5.7.

Mark, punch,. and drill the second hole in the
console.

5.8.

Secure the loose end of the shift lock plate to the
fender console using the flat-head screw,
washer, and locking nut supplied in the kit.
