MOVE

Quick Start Guide

Completion

For finishing the wizard, press “Next” again. You will

then be shown a summary of your settings. Check

the checkbox for accepting the new function of the

Ethernet port and click on "Apply Settings" to store
the new configuration. The

XS

Box

®

MOVE

restarts

and it takes some seconds to be able to reconnect

to the device.

The basic configuration has now been completed
and your

XS

Box

®

MOVE

is ready for normal

usage, assumed that your settings are correct.

Try to access any website like

www.4g-systems.com.

Wi-Fi encryption

Never operate Wi-Fi without having enabled

encryption!

The setting “Authentication” lets you choose an

encryption method. WPA2PSK is the most advan-

ced algorithm. Avoid using WEP because its safe-

ness is known to be insufficient.

Enter you secret key into the field “Preshare key”.

Configuring Wi-Fi

If you like to use the Wi-Fi functionality of the

XS

Box

®

MOVE

, activate the wireless network

access point by selecting “Enable”.

In the field “Network ID” you may give your

network a unique name. “Channel” lets you select

the Wi-Fi-Channel to be used. It is suggested to

choose “Auto” for the automatic selection of the

best channel.

Configuring WAN

The configuration is explained using the example of

a 3G USB modem.

1. LAN IP Address: In this field you can set the IP

address of the

XS

Box

®

MOVE

. In general, this

setting must not be changed.

2. APN*: This is the URL of the access point of your

internet provider. It is only necessary to enter this

value if the APN is not already set in your 3G

modem.

3. PIN Code*: If your SIM card is PIN secured, you

must enter it here.

4. Dialed Number*: Number to dial by the modem

to establish a connection. In general not necessa-

ry, otherwise often *99# or *99***1#.

5.

Account*: Username for registration to your

internet account.

6.

Password*: Password for registration to your

internet account.

* This information can normally be found in the

documents coming from your internet provider.

Selecting WAN type

Now you must select the appropriate method to

connect to the internet. In this example, we will

connect using a 3G USB modem and therefore will

select “3G USB Modem”. Click “Next”.

Selecting the local timezone

Try to automatically detect your timezone using the

button or select one from the dropdown list manually.

Click on “Next”.

Choosing a new password

First thing suggested to be done is to change the default

password “admin” to a more complex and secret one.

Type in the current password “admin” and choose a new one

which must be entered twice. Afterwards click on “Next”.

Running the wizard

The easiest way to configure the

XS

Box

®

MOVE

is

using the wizard. Select the wizard checkbox and click

on enter.

On the next screen you will be shown an overview of

the following configuration steps.

Logging in

After being connected to the

XS

Box

®

MOVE

, the

first screen you will see is the status page where you

can log into the configuration interface.

Enter the default password “admin” to the field

“System Password” and click the “Login” button.

Establish a connection

The default Wi-Fi settings are: SSID “default”, chan-

nel 11, no encryption.

Open a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox,
Safari etc.) and type in the default IP address

http://192.168.123.254 of the

XS

Box

®

MOVE

.

Note:

The network adapter of your computer must

be configured to retrieve its IP address via DHCP or

have an IP address within the same subnet as the

XS

Box

®

MOVE

.

Connect power supply

When using the battery, it should be fully charged

once for at least 3-4 hours before using the device

for the first time. This ensures maximum lifetime of

the Li-Ion battery cells.

Afterwards power up the

XS

Box

®

MOVE

by setting the

power switch to the ON position.

It takes some seconds before the device is ready and

you may continue configuration.

Connect the RJ-45 cable to the “Ethernet” jack of the

XS

Box

®

MOVE

and the other end to a free port of

your network switch or directly to

your computer.

Setup a LAN link

Skip this step to use the device with Wi-Fi only.

Connect 3G USB-Modem

Set the power switch to OFF

and insert the battery as

shown.

Insert the Battery

Skip this step if you are planning a stationary use of

the device without battery.
