1. IMPORTANT REMARK

We thank you for trusting in us and choosing our DLA adaption unit. In order to get the optimum operation and

efficiency from this unit, it is VERY IMPORTANT - before you plug anything - to read this manual very carefully and
bear in mind all considerations specified within it.

We strongly recommend that its maintenance be carried out by our Authorised Technical services.
Do not expose the unit to rain or water splashes, and do not place liquid containers or incandescent

objects like candles on top of the unit. Do not obstruct the ventilation shafts with any kind of material.
There are no user serviceable parts inside the unit.

INTRODUCTION

The use of a 70V / 100V loudspeaker distribution system responds to the necessity of a flexible system

that firstly allows the simultaneous use of different types of loudspeakers with different impedances, power
handlings, etc. and secondly minimises the power loss caused by the conductor resistance in long cable runs.

Basically, the system uses transformers to adapt each loudspeaker to the 70V / 100V line. These line

voltages are achieved either with high output power amplifiers (e.g. 1250W @ 8

Ω) or with smaller power amplifiers

followed by an output transformer.

In order to use conventional medium-sized power amplifiers in 70V /100V lines (e.g. hotels, factories, train

stations, bus terminals, stores, supermarkets, parks, streets… ) it is required to place an intermediate unit between
the amplifier’s output and the loudspeaker line. The DLA fulfils this task and offers exceptional flexibility thanks to
its independent channels for 100V and 70V outputs.

The DLA4-80 & DLA6-80 intermediate units complements ECLERs power amplifiers MPA4-80R,

MPA6-80R, although they are perfectly suited for other amplifiers with similar characteristics.

INSTALLATION TIPS

As in many other systems, it’s highly recommended not to reduce the total load impedance below the

minimum admissible impedance. The usual procedure for calculating the maximum number of loudspeakers that a
given line can bear, is to sum the nominal power of all loudspeakers and check that this sum is not bigger than the
maximum output power of the amplifier.

For the previous statement to be true, and to ensure a trouble-free operation of the power amplifier,

loudspeakers should be of the highest affordable quality and be installed correctly.

If you use a higher output power on a lower rated DLA input, you run the risk of saturating the transformer

and poor system performance.

Keep in mind that if these power figures do not match, the output voltage of the DLA will not be exactly

100V or 70V.

Always refer to the indications printed on the panel when connecting the inputs and outputs to the DLA.

These indications are reproduced at the end of this manual together with one installation example.

The DLA features lateral rack ears that allow, thanks to its standard 19’’ width (482.6 mm) and 1 unit height

(44mm), installation in normalized rack frames.

CLEANING

The front panel should not be cleaned with dissolvent or abrasive substances because silk-printing could

be damaged. To clean it, use a soft cloth slightly wet with water and neutral liquid soap; dry it with a clean cloth. Be
careful that water never gets into the unit through the holes of the unit.

All numbers subject to variation due to production tolerances. ECLER SA reserves the right to make changes or
improvements in manufacturing or design which may affect specifications.
