BACKGROUND NOISE SUPPRESSION__________

The BACKGROUND NOISE SUPPRESSION effecti­

vely emphasizes the frequency range of the human
voice while reducing both the high and the low fre­
quencies that usually comprise noise.

• Set the BNS (Background Noise Suppression)

switch to ON to achieve a clearer and better
defined voice recording in noisy surroundings.

-You can use VOICE ACT with the BNS

(Background Noise Suppression) during

recording.

STARTING AND STOPPING THE RECORDING

• Open the cassette holder and insert a suitable

cassette H.

• Press the cassette holder lightly to shut.
• Set the BNS (Background Noise Suppression) and

VOICE ACT controls to ON or OFF.

• If you do not wish to use the built-in flat mic,

connect an external microphone to the EXT MIC

socket and point to the sound source.

Note: Make sure you direct the external

microphone away from the set to avoid a

howling sound.

Make sure you use an external microphone

with a 3.5 mm diameter socket

- Once the EXT MIC is connected, the built-in flat

mic will not pick up sound.

• Connect headphones to the O socket to monitor

the recording

• To start recording, press REC •.

Note: You can also start recording immediately in

playback mode by pressing REC •.

- During recording the red REC indicator will light

up.

• For brief interruptions, slide the PAUSE

upwards. To deactivate PAUSE slide the switch

• To stop recording, press STOP ■ and the set is

switched off.

-At the end of a tape, the recording buttons are

automatically released and the set is switched
off, unless PAUSE

has been activated,

also acts as a lock switch. Push the

switch upwards to prevent any button from
accidentally being pressed during recording, or
when you are not using the set.

• To check the recording, use the SEARCH buttons

(see CASSETTE PIVWBACK).

GENERAL INFORMATION

MAINTENANCE

• Do not expose the set and cassettes to rain,

moisture, sand, or to extreme heat from e.g.
heating equipment or in motor cars parked in the

sun.

• Check and tighten slack tape before use with a

pencil to avoid jamming the deck mechanism or
snapping the tape.

- Playing C-120 cassettes is not recommended as

they are very thin and easily damaged.

USE YOUR HEAD WHEN USING HEADPHONES

Hearing safety

• Do not play your headphones at a high volume.

Hearing experts advise that continuous use at
high volume can permanently damage hearing.

Traffic safety

• Do not use headphones while driving a vehicle. It

may create a traffic hazard and it is illegal in many

countries. Even if your headphones are an open-
air type designed to let you hear outside sounds,
do not turn up volume so high that you cannot

hear what is going on around you.

• Clean the magnetic head after every 50 hours of

operation or, on average, once a month by playing

through a cleaning cassette.

• Use a soft, slightly dampened chamois leather to

clean the case. Do not use any strong or
corrosive cleaning agents such as thinner,

benzene, etc. as these will spoil your set w.

1 All redundant packaging material has been

omitted. We have done our utmost to make the

packaging easy to separate into two mono­

materials:

-cardboard (box)

-polyethylene (bags, protective foam sheet)

Please observe the local regulations regarding the

disposal of these packaging materials.

2 Your set consists of materials which can be

recycled and reused if disassembled by a

specialized company. Please inquire about local

regulations on how to hand in your old set for

recycling.

3 Do not dispose of exhausted batteries with your

household waste.
