Connection: Mobile devices do not maintain a constant network connection. With a client application, you can work offline
and still have uninterrupted access to your Salesforce data.

Speed: Wireless data networks are still very slow. Client applications are highly responsive.

Browser Limitations: Most mobile browsers cannot support JavaScript and Flash. Generally, Salesforce pages contain too much
data, and they simply do not load in mobile browsers.

For most mobile users, the data from Salesforce is transmitted to your device very quickly. If your device has a low wireless signal,
you may experience a delay in receiving new data.

You will experience a slight delay before Salesforce Classic uploads data to Salesforce. If the mobile application uploaded data every
instant you made a change, the battery power of your BlackBerry smartphone would drop fast.

Why does the battery on my BlackBerry smartphone drain faster with Salesforce Classic installed?

The mobile client application communicates with Salesforce on a periodic basis. This communication results in radio and other
activity, which increases battery usage. The battery charge expectancy varies considerably between devices, carriers and networks.
The following are tips which should help you get the most out of your battery:

Do not let the battery completely discharge; plug it in whenever you have the opportunity.

Keep your Bluetooth turned off when it's not in use.

Quit instant messaging software when not in use instead of running the processes in foreground. Also, stay logged off the
networks that you do not use often.

Make sure you keep the backlight turned off or low whenever possible.

Upgrade to latest version of the BlackBerry operating system and keep it up-to-date with the operating system patches and fixes
in the core modules.

How can I tell which version of Salesforce Classic is on my device?

From the Salesforce Classic home page, open the menu and click About. The About Salesforce Classic page displays the version
number.

How do I upgrade to the latest version of Salesforce Classic?

You can upgrade to the latest version of Salesforce Classic by downloading and installing the new client application on your device.
For detailed instructions, see

Upgrading Salesforce Classic

on page 42.

Note:

If your device is managed by a BlackBerry administrator on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you may receive upgrades

automatically.

How do I remove Salesforce Classic from my device?

The mobile client application can be removed from your device by running the uninstall program from the System Information
page.

Access the System Information page, open the menu, and then select Uninstall.

Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.

Why won’t my BlackBerry smartphone connect to the server?

Confirm that the wireless radio of your device is turned on. On the device home page, find the wireless icon, usually located at the
bottom of the menu. If the icon is off, turn it on.

If your wireless radio is on, you might have a problem with the firewall. On your BlackBerry smartphone, navigate to Options >
Firewall or Options > Security Options > Firewall to locate the device firewall settings. Make sure the firewall is enabled, and
then click the trackwheel or trackball and select Reset Settings. Wait several seconds and then reset the device. If you see the
message, “The application salesforce_transport_<mds, bibs, tcp> has requested an http connection to tp.mobile.salesforce,” select
the

tp.mobile.salesforce.com

checkbox and then scroll down and click Allow this connection.
