Reference Document

This document lists two cautions of which to be aware when installing an EntraGuard Gold or
Titanium unit.

1.0

Modem Compatibility

To ensure communication compatibility between host computer and EntraGuard Gold/Titanium
unit when communicating via modem, Keri requires that you only use modems that Keri has tested
and qualified for communication compatibility.

The following modems have been tested for communication compatibility:

Harmony Model – FB V 1456VQE-R (Keri P/N EXM-56K, external modem)

AOpen Model – FM56EX/2 (external modem)

As other modems are tested and pass qualification, they will be added to Keri’s Recommended
Peripherals List. Please check the Keri web site (www.kerisys.com – Downloads > Technical
Documents page) for the current Recommended Peripherals list.

Drilling the Unit Enclosure

If you are drilling the rear of the enclosure to accommodate a custom mounting requirement, you
must be aware of the metal shavings created by drilling which can short out and severely damage
the unit’s circuit boards. Perform the following to prevent this type of damage:

1. Disconnect cabling between unit front panel and internal circuit board.
2. Remove the unit’s front panel.
3. Remove the internal circuit board.
4. Drill your custom mounting holes.
5. Thoroughly clean out all metal shavings.
6. Reinstall the internal circuit board and front panel.
7. Reconnect the front panel/circuit board cabling.

NOTE: Insure there is sufficient clearance between the circuit board and housing. Failure to do
so may lead to catastrophic board failure.
