Using Application Recovery and System Recovery
Before using the Compaq Presario System
Recovery or Application Recovery programs,
try using the System Restore.
System Restore
If software on your hard drive accidentally gets
erased or damaged, try the Microsoft System
Restore feature in Windows XP to restore the
computer system and program settings.
System Restore returns the computer settings to
a selected restore point without affecting user
programs or document files. Because it causes
fewer changes to your system than Compaq
System Recovery, try Microsoft System Restore first,
if the computer allows you to access the program.
To Use System Restore
1. Close all open programs.
2. Click the Start button on the Windows
taskbar.
3. Click All Programs.
4. Click Accessories.
5. Click System Tools.
6. Click System Restore.
7. Follow the onscreen instructions.
WARNING: Try System Restore before
using the Compaq System Recovery
program.
