D To contour the hairline around the ears,

comb the hair ends over the ears.

a Press the ON/OFF Button to turn on the

appliance.

D

Tilt the Clipper in such a way that only one

edge of the cuttiing element touches the hair
ends. Be careful not to trim too much. The
hairline should be close to the ear (Fig. 13).

B To contour the neckline and the sideburns,

turn the Clipper and make downward
strokes (Fig. 14).

NOTE: Move the Clipper slowly and smoothly.

Simply follow the natural hairline.

Q Adjust the position of the rotating head to

make contouring easier.

Shaving

TIP: Shaving is easier when the hairs are shorter

than 1mm. If the hairs are longer than 1mm, use
the cutting element without the comb to pre<ut
hairs to the shortest setting.

D Turn off Clipper.

H Pull the comb off the rotating head (Fig. 12).

H Press the release buttons (1) and remove

the cutting unit from the handle (2) (Fig. 15).

D Attach the shaving head by pressing it onto

the appliance.You will hear a ‘click’ (Fig. 16).

Make sure that the shaving head locks into
position properly.

a Remove the protection cap from the shaving

head (Fig. 17).

If the shaving head foil shows signs of wear or

damage, do not use as injury may occur Do not
use the shaving head until foil has been replaced.

n Adjust the position of the rotating head to

make shaving easier.You can do this before
and/or during use (Fig. 18).

Q Place the shaving head on your scalp and

start shaving (Fig. 19).

NOTE: Make sure that the shaving foil is always m

full contact with your scalp.

Cleaning

I Clean the Clipper after each use.

I

Always switch Clipper OFF, unplug and remove

power supply cord from Clipper before
cleaning.

I

Do not use compressed air, abrasive cleaning
agents, scourers or aggressive liquids such as
gasoline, acetone or ethereal oils to clean

the Clipper and attachments.

I

Never clean, replace or remove Clipper
attachments with motor ON.

I Do not apply pressure to shaving head. Do not

touch foil with hard objects as this may dent
or damage foil or cutters. If damage occurs,
replace damaged parts.

I

Do not use Clipper if foil, cutter or cutting

element are damaged or broken as injury may
occur.

I

Use a soft, dry cloth to clean Clipper handle.

During Use:

I

If cut hairs have accumulated in the comb
area, remove hairs by shaking, blowing or using

cleaning brush provided.

Cleaning the Cutting Element and
Combs After Each Use:

D Make sure the Clipper is switched OFF

and disconnected from the electrical outlet.

a Remove any comb attachment (Fig. 12).

B Blow and/or shake out any hair that may

have accumulated in the comb.

□ Rinse the comb under the tap or clean it

with the cleaning brush supplied.

H Apply pressure to the center of the cutting

element with your thumb (1) until it releases
from the rotating head (2) (Fig. 20).

Be careful that the cutting element does not fall to

the floor

Clean the cutting element under the tap
or with the brush supplied (Fig. 21).

Make sure the cutting element is thoroughly dry
before reattaching to Clipper

Cleaning the Shaving Head

D

Clean the inside of the rotating head under the

tap or with the brush supplied (Fig. 22).

B

Clean the handle and the adapter with the
cleaning brush supplied or with a dry cloth.

D Insert the notch of the cutting element into

the slot on the rotating head and push until
the cutting element‘clicks’ into place (Fig. 23).

O Turn off the Clipper and disconnect from the

electrical outlet.

a Press the release buttons on the shaving head

and remove the shaving foil from the shaving
head (Fig. 24).

B Rinse the shaving head and shaving foil under

the tap (Fig. 25).

NOTE:To dean the shaving head with the cleaning
brush, brush the inside and outside of the shaving
head and the outside of the shaving foil.To remove

cut hairs from the inside of the shaving foil, tap the
bottom of the shaving foil gently on a flat surface.

□ Press the shaving foil back into the shaving

head (Fig. 26).

Replacing the Shaving Foil Head

If the shaving foil and cutters are worn or

damaged, do not continue using the Clipper.

Replace the shaving foil and cutters immediately.

It is recommended that you replace your

shaving foil and cutters once a year.

IA worn or damaged shaving foil or cutters

should only be replaced with an original Philips
Norelco shaving foil, model QC5500, which is
available on the Philips Norelco website,
www.philips.com/support or call

I -800-243-3050 for assistance.

The foil is a precision part. Handle with care.

D Turn off the Clipper and disconnect it

from the electrical outlet.

a Press the release buttons on the shaving head

and remove the shaving foil from the shaving
head (Fig. 24).

H Remove the retaining frame from the old

shaving foil (Fig. 27).

Q Place the retaining frame on the new shaving

foil (Fig. 28).

Remove the old shaving cutters (Fig. 29).

B

Place the new cutters on the shaving head.
You will hear a ‘click’ (Fig. 30).

Q Press the shaving foil back into the shaving

head (Fig. 26).

k Be sure Clipper is turned OFF. Remove cord

from outlet and Clipper before storing in a
safe, dry location where it will not be crushed,

banged, or subject to damage.

be cut or damaged.

► Do not place or store Clipper where it can fall

or be pulled into a tub or sink, water or other
liquid while plugged in.

Battery Removal

This Philips Norelco Clipper contains a

rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery which must
be disposed of properly (Fig. 31 ).

Battery may only be removed when Clipper is

to be discarded.

D Unplug electrical cord from outlet and

Clipper before dismantling Clipper.

Q Allow Clipper to run until the battery is

empty/depleted.

Q Turn Clipper OFF.

Q Remove any comb attachment.

Remove the upper housing part of the

Clipper (Fig. 32).

Use a screwdriver to open the inner body
of the Clipper.

Q Use a screwdriver to remove the battery

from the Clipper (Fig. 33).

Cut the wires with household scissors.
