Lamps (DHL) and the aulomatic headlamp systems,
so that driving under bridges or bright overhead street
lights does not attecl the system. The DRL and

automatic headlamp syslem will only be affected when
the Icght sensor sees a change in lighting lasling
longer than Iha delay

If you start your vehicle in a dark garage, the automatic
headlamp system will come or^ immediaiely. Once
yon leave Ihe garage, it will ta!;e approximalely
one minute for the automatic headlamp system to

change to DRL If it is light outside. During that delay,
your Instrumeni panel cluster may not be as bright
as usual. Make sure your instrument panel brightness

control 15 in Ihe full bright position.

To idle your vehicle with the automatic headlamp
system ott, sat the parking brake while the igniitiron is off.
Then start your vehicle. The automatic headlamp

systen^ will stay off until you release the parking brako,
shih out oi park or turn the exterior lamp control lo
the off position as described in "Exterior Lamps'^.

Daytime Running Lamps

Daytime Running Lamps {DRL) can imake it easier (or

others to see the front ot your vehicle during the
day. DRL can be helpful in many different driving
condMions, bul they can bo especially helpful in Ihe short

periods after dawn and before sunsef. Fully iunctionai
daytime running lamps are required ort all vehicles
Hrst sold in Canada.

The DRL system will make your headlamps come on
at reduced brig hi ness when the following condiiions

are met:

When the DRL are on, only your headlamps will be on.
