Removal

1.

Perform top cover removal procedure as described previously.

2.

Identify the drive to be replaced. As viewed from the top front of the
array, the drives are numbered as follows (from left to right):

9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1

Detach the drive’s power cable and data cable. (Detach the data cable
from both the controller board and the unit.)

4.

Remove the two screws that secure the drive to the plate above the
drives (see the figure below).

5.

Slide the drive toward the rear of the enclosure until it is free of the card
guides and remove it from the array.

6.

Using a screwdriver, detach the drive’s mounting bracket and save it for
use in installing the replacement drive.

Drive Setup

Requirements

Replacement disk drives from Ciprico are preconfigured, ready for installation
in the array. Replacement drive jumpers must be configured to identify the drive
as a “master” without a slave unit, or as “one-drive-only.”
