Rear Panel

All connections are made on the rear panel, which is shown below.

The connections are:

POWER

: Connect to external 5-volt DC power supply.

VIDEO

(Input 1): Connect to a composite video source.

SVIDEO

(Input 2): Connect to an S-Video source using the supplied cable.

YP

B

P

R

(Input 3): Connect to a component video source using the supplied cable.

PASS-THROUGH

(Input 4): Connect to an analog video source as described below.

VIDEO OUTPUT

: Connect to the display as described below.

The composite, SVideo and component video inputs are selected as input 1, 2 and 3,
respectively, and accept standard SDTV interlaced video. Composite and SVideo inputs
automatically select between NTSC, PAL, or SECAM.

The pass-through input and the video output use standard VGA female jacks. Both RGB
and component video formats are supported. For component video, the VGA green
channel is used for Luma (Y), the red channel is used for P

R

and the blue channel is used

for P

B

. Discrete syncs use the VGA horizontal and vertical sync signals. If discrete

composite sync is selected, the VGA horizontal sync signal is used.

The video output cable selection depends on the video format, and the connectors used
for the display’s video input. If the display uses a VGA input cable, plug it into the video
output. If the display uses RGBHV video on separate BNC connectors, select a VGA
“breakout” cable that converts the VGA output connector to five BNC connectors. For a
display with a component input, only the red (P

R

), green (Y) and blue (P

B

) channels are

used. It may be necessary to install BNC to RCA adapters at the display input.

The pass-through input format must be compatible with the display input. The three video
channels are buffered, but are otherwise unmodified. If used, the pass-through discrete
horizontal and vertical sync, or composite, sync polarity can be processed to match the
internally generated sync polarity, or simply buffered.

Use the same criteria to select the pass-through input cable as was used to select the video
output cable. Often the pass-through cable selection is the same as the video output cable.
