INSTRUCTIONS FOR FIELD INSTALLATION OF A
HIGH TEMP DIGITAL PANEL METER (HTM)

(X1625 Without Analog Output; For 1862HC Style Chassis)

1. Unplug the power cord of the modular controller. Remove the (2) screws from the back side (at

the upper corners) of the 4840 series controller. Lift the top cover which is hinged at the bottom
front of the case to the open position.

2. Remove and discard the uppermost 2" x 4" metal hole plug from the sloped front panel after

removing (2) attaching nuts from inside surface of the sloped front panel.

3. Use a small screwdriver to pry the red front panel off of the high temp DPM (digital panel meter)

by inserting the tip of the screwdriver into the notch at the bottom center of the DPM case.

4. Insert the DPM into the rectangular opening previously covered with the metal hole plug removed

in step 2. Take care to install the DPM with the printed circuit board, which protrudes from the
rear, to the bottom side.

5. Slide the rectangular-shaped ring over the rear side of the DPM from inside the sloped metal

cover.

6. Insert (2) small metal tabs (bent edge toward screw head) over #4 x 5/8 flat head machine

screws and insert (2) screws with tabs into holes on each side of the DPM. Turn screws with tabs
into holes on each side of the DPM. Turn screws to thread into metal rectangular-shaped ring
installed on the back side of the cover. Tighten screws securely.

7. Install edge connector of internal high temp harness assembly to the back of the high temp DPM.

Note, the keying slot in the printed circuit board and the keying plug in the edge connector of the
harness must line up to properly install the harness.

8. Secure connector to the DPM with the furnished #4 x 3/4 pan head sheet metal screws through

the hole in each end of the connector. Slide on the 3/16" long nylon spacer (1852HC), and attach
to the base of the DPM. Do not over tighten screws as it could bulge or push off the front panel.

9. Secure the high temp harness to the DPM by inserting cable clamp (186DD2) around the high

temp harness. Insert the remaining #4 x 1/2 fillister head machine screw through #6 flat washer,
cable clamp, and into upper R.H. boss (as viewed from the front) on the back side of the DPM.
Tighten to secure.

10. Route high temp harness under formed metal wire retainer (near hinged area) by removing one

wire retainer attaching screw. Reposition wire retainer, reinstall screw and tighten securely.

11. Attach the white wire of the high temp harness assembly to any available position on terminal #9

of the terminal block located on R.H. bottom side of the controller.

12. Attach the black wire of the high temp harness assembly to any available position on terminal

#10 of the terminal block located on R.H. bottom side of the controller.

13. Attach the orange wire of the high temp harness assembly to any available position on terminal

#6 of the terminal block located on R.H. bottom side of the controller.

14. Attach the blue wire of the high temp harness assembly to any available position on terminal #7

of the terminal block on R.H. bottom side of the controller.

15. Attach white wire of the thermocouple cable to the (+) positive screen on the "High Temp Input"

thermocouple connector already mounted in the rear panel.
