ACCOUSTIC JACKET

DESCRIPTION
The Pacific Acoustic Jacket is an accessory for the application of Pacific Pumps in
extreme noise sensitive environments. The Pacific pump is inserted into the rubber
sleeve and the ends are then plugged with the inserts supplied. This has an effective
means of reducing air-borne noise as well as reducing transmitted vibration noise. The
carefully selected materials used absorb sound waves and add mass to the pump
assembly which reduces vibration.

ASSEMBLY
Assemble the Pacific pump cable and tube connections as shown in the Pacific
Installation Manual.

Ensure all tube connections are secure and leak-proof - use tie-wraps provided.
Water must not leak inside the Acoustic Jacket.

Assemble the slotted foam insert on the pump cables and tubes. Slide the pump into
the rubber sleeve and press the foam in flush. Press the foam insert into the remaining
end of the sleeve. The pump must be positioned so that the tubes are at the lowest
point. This is to prevent condensation which may form on the tubes running back
towards the electrical connections.

For maximum sound reduction:
Suspend the pump in mid air by hanging from a secure fixing (tubes pointing down).
Mount or lay the assembled Pump and Jacket on soft foam in a ceiling or wall cavity.
The mounting surface should preferably be of firm and solid construction which will
reduce the transmission of noise. Whenever possible position the pump away, out of
the air-handler, perhaps above the ceiling. Try not to mount in tight positions as this
can increase transmissive noise.
