2. Introduction

2.1. Overview

CUE brings a new solution to the market enabling the use of any Windows Mobile-based Mobile
Device
i.e. PDA, or Tablet PC running Microsoft® Windows® Mobile™ 2003 software for the Pocket
PC, to run as a Cue System control panel. The wireless communication between the mobile device
and control system is based on Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b or 802.11g) data communication. The mobile
device is required to be equipped with a Wi-Fi module, and the control system uses a standard
wireless access point connected to the CUEnet. The application for the mobile device is designed with
Cue

®

Design Director software in mind, which is the standard programming tool for touch panel layout

creation. The mobile device is required to have the pdCUE runtime software installed (supplied in the
pdCUE software package). The pdCUE is suitable as the sole control panel in a system, or an
additional control panel to a system. The pdCUE has excellent applications in commercial,
educational, and residential systems. The advantage of the pdCUE is that it allows the user or users
(anyone within the access point range) to access their control system without using a panel, but
instead their PDA or Tablet PC.
