Cleaning Instructions

Lifeline carts are constructed of a durable polyethylene.
A soft cloth and mild soap and water solution can be used
to clean lightly soiled surfaces. After cleaning, wipe dry
with a clean, soft cloth.

For heavily soiled areas, a soft brush and solvent or
emulsion-based cleaners may be employed. Always
insure that the cleaner is recommended for the use
on plastics and follow special instructions from the
manufacturer.

The use of abrasive cleaners is NOT recommended.
Iodine-based cleaners are NOT recommended and may
cause discoloration to the cart.

Please read the instructions that come with the cart
for recommendations on correct cleaning materials
and procedures.

Recommended Types of Cleaning Products:

Note:

This list is by no means complete. The listed products

are only suggested and have been proven effective in
cleaning the cart body and drawers.

Backboard Inspection

Because of the critical nature of cardiac backboards
and the environments in which they are used, proper
performance is essential.

Metro recommends that backboards should be inspected
after each use and replaced if chipped, scratched, or
gouged. If a damaged board is used while performing
cardiopulmonary resuscitation, it is possible that the
board could break and not provide proper support.

The physical nature of usage and varying frequency of
the use makes it diffi cult to determine the life expectancy
of a board. As a baseline, we are recommending
replacement of all boards 5 years of age or older. Due to
the risk of failure as a result of damage caused by impact
and/or other forms of abuse, regular inspection should
be incorporated into biomedical maintenance and quality
assurance protocol.

You can determine the age of your Metro Backboard by
calling customer service with the serial number found
on the back of the cart. Old models may have the serial
number located under the white movable handle on the
right side of the cart.
