ADDENDUM

GM-2 LT Addendum

The GM-2 LT is a 120 Volt controller designed to upgrade manually operated glass kilns to be automatic.

The 3 button controller is the same one that is included on the Skutt HotStart Pro and FireBox 14 Kilns. It

includes the following features:

GlassFire Mode - 9 Adjustable Preset Fusing and Slumping Programs

Ramp and Hold Mode - Store 5 custom programs with up to 8 segments each.

Temperature Alarm - Sound an alarm at any given temperature

Edit on the Fly - Add time, temperature or skip a step without having to stop the firing.

Will work with any 120V kiln 15 amps or under .

Kit Includes

GM-2 120V Kiln Controller

8ft Type K Thermocouple Wire

6 inch Type K Thermocouple with Jack.

Mounting Flange with Screws.

Installation Instructions
Mount GM-2 LT

The GM-2 LT controller can either be mounted to a wall or sit upright next to the kiln. Locate it at least 18” from
the kiln to ensure the electronics stays cool. Plug the kiln into the GM-2 LT controller and the controller into a
grounded 120V outlet.

Install Thermocouple

Many kilns will already have a pyrometer installed on them. If that is the case you may be able to use the

current thermocouple flange and hole. The existing hole should be small enough to ensure a snug fit. If

the hole is too large you will need to pack ceramic fiber around the thermocouple to seal any gaps.

If there is no hole in the kiln (or it is too small) you will want to drill one using a 5/16th” drill bit. Drill

the hole in an area as close to the center of the kiln as possible. Be sure to leave as much room as possible

from elements. We recommend at least 1/2”. Once the hole is drilled position the thermocouple flange

centered over the hole and secure it to the kiln with the screws supplied. It is most convenient to locate

the set screw on the top side of the flange.

Place the thermocouple through the flange so it is sticking out into the chamber at least 1” to ensure a

proper reading. CAUTION: If you were to turn on the kiln with the thermocouple not properly ex-

posed to the interior chamber of the kiln you could risk severely over-firing your kiln.

Operation
Your GM-2 LT uses the same controller as comes with the FireBox 14 and HotStart Pro kilns.
We have included a manual for these kilns to be used for programing instructions.
