ADJUSTING THE FIT

The Black Diamond has two adjustments that allow you to customize the
fit: the length of the waistband, and position of the chest strap. The pro-
cedures for making these adjustments are outlined below. It is important
to take into account the exposure suit you will be wearing when making
adjustments. For example, if you adjust the Black Diamond to fit over a
T-shirt or bathing suit, it will be too small when you put it on while wear-
ing a 7mm wetsuit or a drysuit.

Adjusting the Waistband Length

The Black Diamond’s waistband consists of two separate sections which
are each attached to the rear panel with two stainless steel nut and bolt
combinations. There are three positions that allow you to lengthen or
shorten the waistband, with the outer grommets being the longest set-
ting. If necessary, the waistband can easily be remounted onto one of
three grommeted attachment points by performing the following proce-
dure:
1. Disconnect the chest strap buckle, shoulder strap buckles, waist

strap buckle, and waistband.

2. To remove the bolts which fasten each section to the rear panel,

hold the nut with a 3/8” box-end wrench and unscrew the bolt with a
medium-sized phillips screwdriver (Fig. 7).

3. Align the grommet holes in the waistband with the holes in the

panel. Insert the bolt through the front of the panel, through the
waistband, and thread the nut onto the bolt from behind the waist-
band (Fig. 8). Hold the nut securely with a 3/8” wrench and tighten
the bolt with a phillips screwdriver.

4. Don the BC over your exposure suit to check the fit.
