intended use

The article is only suitable as a nesting aid for
birds and is not designed for commercial use.
The article is designed for use in the living area,
e.g. on a balcony, a terrace or in the garden.

safety guidelines

• Only use the article for its intended purpose.
• This article is not a toy
• Never leave children with the packaging
materials unsupervised. There is a risk of suffo-
cation.
• Do not check the article during the breeding
period so that you do not disturb the hatching
and raising of the young birds.

Mounting

Please observe the following when mounting the
article:
• Hang the article at a height of two to three
metres.
• The entry hole should not face the wind-
ward side (west) and the article should not
be subjected to bright sunlight for longer
periods (south). The ideal orientation is there-
fore to the east or southeast.

• Use rust-free aluminium nails or screws to
mount the article on trees. Alternatively you
can use stable wire brackets
that do not damage the tree.
• The article should never tip backwards and
should rather tip forwards so that rain cannot
enter.
• Articles in the same design and with the same
type of target bird should be hung at least ten
metres apart (exception: colony hatchers
such as sparrows, starlings, and swallows).
This ensures that the breeding animals find
enough food for themselves and their young.
• It is best to mount the article in the autumn so
that birds, small mammals, and insects can
use them to sleep and hibernate.
• Suitable places for mounting are protected
places on house walls, on balconies, sheds,
and summer houses that cannot be accessed
by cats or martens.

Cleaning and maintenance

• Clean the article after the breeding season as
fleas, mites, or louse flies often live in old
nests. Undertake the cleaning in the late sum
mer or wait until the end of February so that
you do not disturb hibernating animals such
as dormice. As it is difficult to find the alternati-
ve time after the winter and before the start of
the breeding season you should delay the
cleaning for a year if you have missed the late
summer time period.
• Wear gloves and do not take nesting material
into the house as bird fleas and other
creatures can transfer to people.
• Remove the old nest and brush the article out
if it is heavily soiled. Do not use insect spray
or chemical cleaning agents.
• Store the article in a clean, dry place when
you are not using it.
