Ear Defenders
Thank you for purchasing a Sealey product. Manufactured to a high standard, this product will, if used according to these instructions,
and properly maintained, give you years of trouble free performance.
1. Safety Instructions
1.1. General safety
 WARNING! Put the ear defenders on before exposing yourself to noise and wear at all times during exposure to excess noise levels.
 Before use, check that the ear defenders will provide the required level of noise attenuation. Please see Attenuation Values table.
 Inspect the ear defenders to ensure there are no tears or snags and that they are in good condition.
1.2. PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
Ensure there is another person within sight close enough to come to your aid should a problem arise when working.
2. Application
2.1. When worn properly and given adequate care, the SSP18 and SSP18F provide excellent protection which fi lters the high levels of noise
that are encountered in an industrial environment.
3. Use
 WARNING! These ear defenders are of normal size range complying with EN 352-1. They are designed to fi t the majority of wearers. If in
doubt, seek professional advice.
3.1. Extend the headband to maximum “open” position and place the cups over the ears with the headband passing over the head.
3.2. Settle the headband in position on the head while adjusting the height of the ear cups until they feel comfortable and the headband rests on
top of the head to support the muffs.
3.3. The cushions should be a snug fi t against the head.
3.4. The pressure of the ear defenders against the head can be adjusted too by bending the headband thereby ensuring an effective noise seal.

5. Maintenance
5.1. The ear defenders should be disinfected every three months, according to use. Any part of the ear defender which comes into contact with
the wearer should be disinfected.
5.2. Keep the ear defenders as clean as possible, washing in warm soapy water is recommended. Do not use organic solvents or alcohol for
cleaning.
5.3. When not in use it is recommended to store the ear defenders in a clean, dry environment for optimum protection.
