Cooling Fin Inspection

Inspect the engine cooling fins. Clean out any dirt
and debris if the air flow is obstructed from flowing
across the cooling fins.

If it is necessary to remove the top cover for better
access to the cooling fins, follow the disassembly
steps 1 through 3 on page 23.

Throttle Cable Inspection

Verify that the throttle trigger operates smoothly,
and the throttle cable is undamaged. If there is
visible damage, or if the throttle trigger does not
operate smoothly, have your Honda servicing
dealer replace the throttle cable.

Check the free play at the end of the throttle lever.
Free play should be: 1/8 - 1/16-inch (3 - 5 mm).

If adjustment is needed, use the following cable
adjustment procedure.

Throttle Cable Adjustment

1. Loosen the lock nuts with a 10 mm wrench,

and move the adjuster in or out as required.
Throttle Lever Free Play:
1/8 - 1/16 inch (3 - 5 mm).

2. Tighten the lock nuts and recheck throttle lever

free play.

up to normal operating temperature.
