AIR FILTER

CAUTION:

Do not clean filter in gasoline or

other flammable solvent to avoid creating a

fire hazard or producing harmful evaporative

emissions.

Cleaning the air filter:

A dirty air filter decreases engine perform-

ance and increases fuel consumption and

harmful emissions. Always clean after 15

tanks of fuel or 5 hours of operation, which-

ever comes first. Clean more frequently in

dusty conditions. A used air filter can never

be completely cleaned. It is advisable to re-

place your air filter with a new one after every

50 hours of operation, or annually, whichever

comes first.

CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTS

The chain will be moving during most of this

procedure. Wear your protective equipment

and observe all safety precautions. The

chain must not move at idle speed.

The carburetor has been carefully set at the

factory. Adjustments may be necessary if

you notice any of the following conditions:
S

Chain moves at idle. See IDLE SPEED--T

adjusting procedure.

S

Saw will not idle. See IDLE SPEED--T ad-

justing procedure.

Idle Speed---T

Allow engine to idle. If the chain moves, idle

is too fast. If the engine stalls, idle is too slow.

Adjust speed until engine runs without chain

movement (idle too fast) or stalling (idle too

slow).
S

Turn idle speed screw (T) clockwise to in-

crease engine speed.

S

Turn idle speed screw (T) counterclock-

wise to decrease engine speed. If you re-

quire further assistance or are unsure about

performing this procedure, contact your au-

thorized service dealer.
