Spanning-Tree Operation

802.1D Spanning-Tree Protocol (STP)

Configuring the Switch To Use the 802.1D Spanning Tree Protocol
(STP).

In the default configuration, the switch is set to

RSTP (that is, 802.1w

Rapid Spanning Tree), and spanning tree operation is disabled. To reconfigure
the switch to 802.1D spanning tree, you must:

1. Change the spanning tree protocol version to

stp.

2. Use

write memory to save the change to the startup-configuration.

3. Reboot the switch.

4. If you have not previously enabled spanning-tree operation on the switch,

use the

spanning-tree command again to enable STP operation.

Syntax: spanning-tree protocol-version stp

write memory
