LEAK CHECKING:

GENERAL : Although all gas connections on the heater are leak tested at the
factory prior to shipment, a complete gas tightness check must be performed at the
installation site due to possible mishandling in shipment, or excessive pressure
unknowingly being applied to the appliance. Periodically check the whole system for
leaks, or immediately check if the smell of gas is detected.

BEFORE TESTING
Do not smoke while leak testing. Extinguish all open flames.

Make a soap solution of one part liquid detergent and one part water. You will need
a spray bottle, brush or a piece of rag to apply the solution to the fittings.
For LP units, check with a full cylinder.

CAUTION : NEVER LEAK TEST WITH AN OPEN FLAME

PRESSURE TESTING-GAS SUPPLY PIPING SYSTEM

The appliance and its individual shutoff valve must be disconnected from the gas

supply piping system during any pressure testing of that system at test pressures
in excess of 1/2 psig.

The appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its

individual manual shutoff valve during any pressure testing of the gas supply
piping system at test pressures equal to less than 1/2 psig.
