SEcTiON 6: MAiNTENANcE

Always disconnect power

to the machine before

performing maintenance.

Failure to do this may

result in serious person-

al injury.

For optimum performance from your machine,
follow this maintenance schedule and refer to any
specific instructions given in this section.

Note: This maintenance schedule is based on
average daily usage. Adjust the maintenance
schedule to match your usage to keep your lathe
running smoothly and to protect your investment.

Daily check:

loose mounting bolts.

Worn or damaged wires.

Any other unsafe condition.

Every 8 Hours of Operation:

Clean the machine.

perform the daily lubrication tasks (

page

51).

Check/fill headstock, gearbox, and apron oil
reservoirs (

page 52).

Check/fill the coolant tank (

page 54).

Schedule

Cleaning the Model g0554z is relatively easy.
Vacuum excess metal chips, then wipe off built-
up grime. protect the unpainted metal surfaces
with regular applications of products such as
Model h8257 primrose Armor plate with Moly-d
Machine and Way oil (refer to

AccESSORiES on

page 48).

2 Weeks After installation:

Make sure the bedways are level from side-
to-side and front-to-back (

page 15).

After First 40 Hours of Operation:

drain and refill the headstock, gearbox, and
apron oil reservoirs (

page 52).

Every 30 Days:

drain, clean out, and refill the coolant tank
(

page 54).

Annually:

drain and refill the headstock, gearbox, and
apron oil reservoirs (

page 52).

Make sure the bedways are level from side-
to-side and front-to-back (

page 15).
