If shown as available, it is assumed by the system not to be in use by
any ISA card or device and therefore will be made available for the
PCI auto-configure process.

Although many ISA cards are very simple to configure, the resources
they use, if any, must be registered in the BIOS.

Power Management

Read also the information in the Help topics within the Apricot Power
Management programme in Windows before attempting any changes.

The adjustable settings available here will be dependant upon your
system configuration. If remote control is fitted, POST will have
detected the interface internally and will then enable or disable
appropriate sections and settings within the BIOS. If settings are
greyed out or not selectable, then the adjustments are within the
Apricot software in Windows.

If timings etc., are available for editing, they will have been pre-set
in our factory to ensure compliance with the Energy Star
Programme, but timing changes, or disabling the features, are both
straight forward.

Energy Saving has a two stage operation. First there is a ‘Low
Power’ mode. The monitor will blank and certain components inside
the system will slow down or stop. The system is restarted by pre-
determined events, such as mouse or keyboard activity.

Second stage is ‘Standby’, where the monitor is virtually off, the
processor halts, the HDD will spin down, the fans may stop and the
whole system enters a state where it will typically be consuming less
than 20W. The system is restarted by pressing the ‘standby’ button
on the system front.

Dependant upon system configuration, certain events will trigger
‘intermediate’ states, e.g. an incoming modem call or network e-mail
will start up the appropriate sections of the system, deal with the
message, then return to standby. These events can be pre-set as
required.
