A under Edit.

4 Select a code.
5 When you are finished, press

A under Back

to return to the idle screen.

Making and Receiving Calls in Direct
Talk

SM

Mode

To make a call on a specific code and channel
using Direct Talk:

1 Press and hold the PTT button. Transmit

appears on the display. Begin speaking after
your phone emits the Direct Talk tone.

2 Release the PTT button to listen.

The tone emitted from your phone when making a
Direct Talk call is 4 beeps and sounds different
from the standard tone heard with Direct Connect,
Group Connect, and Talkgroup calls.

If you receive an error message:

There may be no parties on your channel or

code.

You are out of range.

When you receive a call using Direct Talk, Receive
appears on the display.

Receive All

You can set your phone to receive Direct Talk
transmissions from any phone that is set to the
same channel, regardless of the code (1-15), by
setting the code to Receive All. When you receive
transmissions with the code set to Receive All, the
display changes from Receive All to the code on
which the transmission was received.

Note: You cannot initiate a call when the code is

set to Receive All. If you press the PTT
button with the code set to Receive All,
you will receive an error message.

To set the code to Receive All:

1 From the Direct Talk idle screen, press

A

under Edit.

2 Scroll to Code.
3 Press

A under Edit.

4 Select Receive All.
5 When you are finished, press

A under Back

to return to the idle screen.

person using Direct Talk. When on a private Direct
Talk call, no other parties can hear your
conversation. In order to make a private Direct Talk
