PROCEDURE 5 SHROUD/FORK/WHEELS/TIE RODS
CAUTION
DO NOT overtighten the self-locking nut secur-
ing the tie rod assembly to the right front axle.
Otherwise, damage to the tie rod assembly
may occur.
4. Secure the tie rod assembly onto the right front axle
using the EXISTING washer and self-locking nut.
Torque the self-locking nut between 17 - 30 in./lbs.
5. Repeat STEPS 1 - 4 to install the left front axle.
6. Reinstall the front shock absorbers. Refer to RE-
MOVING/INSTALLING FRONT SHOCK AB-
SORBERS in PROCEDURE 11 of this manual.
7. Return the front frame assembly to the upright
position
8. Reinstall the front wheels. Refer to REMOVING/
INSTALLING THE FRONT WHEELS in PRO-
CEDURE 9 of the Owner’s Manual, part number
1090132.
9. Reinstall the shroud assembly. Refer to REMOV-
ING/INSTALLING SHROUD ASSEMBLY in
PROCEDURE 5 of this manual.
10. Reinstall the tiller assembly. Refer to REMOV-
ING/INSTALLING TILLER ASSEMBLY in PRO-
CEDURE 4 of this manual.

REMOVING.
1. Remove the tiller assembly. Refer to REMOV-
ING/INSTALLING TILLER ASSEMBLY in PRO-
CEDURE 4 of this manual.
2. Remove the front shroud assembly. Refer to
REMOVING/INSTALLING FRONT SHROUD
ASSEMBLY in PROCEDURE 5 of this manual.
3. Remove the front wheels. Refer to REMOVING/
INSTALLING THE FRONT WHEELS in PRO-
CEDURE 9 of the Owner’s Manual, part number
1090132.
4. Position the front frame assembly onto its side.
5. Remove the front shock absorbers. Refer to RE-
MOVING/INSTALLING FRONT SHOCK AB-
SORBERS in PROCEDURE 11 of this manual.
NOTE: Save the self-locking nut, washer and spacer
for reuse when installing the NEW front axle assem-
bly.
6. Remove the self-locking nut and washer secur-
ing the right front axle to the tie rod assembly.
7. Slide the tie rod assembly and the spacer away
from the right front axle.
8. Remove the bolt, spring washer and washer secur-
ing the right front axle to the front frame assembly.
9. Remove the right front axle assembly.
10. Repeat STEPS 5 - 9 to remove the left front axle.
INSTALLING.
1. Align the mounting hole in the right front axle with
the mounting hole in the front frame assembly.
CAUTION
DO NOT overtighten the bolt securing the right
front axle to the front frame assembly. Other-
wise, damage to the right front axle may oc-
cur.
2. Secure the right front axle to the front frame as-
sembly using the washer, spring washer and bolt.
Torque the bolt between 191 - 226 in./lbs.
NOTE: Position the spacer between the top of the
right front axle and the tie rod assembly.
3. Slide the EXISTING spacer and the tie rod as-
sembly onto the mounting pin of the right front
axle.
