What is a HotSync

®

operation?

A HotSync

®

operation is a one-step operation that allows you to synchronize

data between your CLIÉ handheld and your computer. By simply tapping
the HotSync icon, you can synchronize your CLIÉ handheld application data
with the Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ software data on your computer, back up
the data of your CLIÉ handheld on your computer, or install add-on
applications.

HotSync operation allows you to do the following:

1

Synchronize the Date Book, the Address Book, the To Do List, and the
Memo Pad data on your CLIÉ handheld and your computer. The Palm
Desktop for CLIÉ software can manage the data of multiple CLIÉ
handhelds independently.

2

Back up the data stored on your CLIÉ handheld onto your computer.
Synchronization ensures that your data is always safe and up-to-date. In
case you need to perform a hard reset, a HotSync operation allows you
to restore the data.

3

Import the data on your computer or install add-on applications onto
your CLIÉ handheld.
