The display panel shows machine status, error messages, and function menus.

A force or impact of more than 30 N (about 3 kgf) will damage the display
panel.
The default is to display the screen for copying when you first turn the power on.
The function items displayed serve as selector keys. You can select or specify an
item by lightly pressing them.
When you select or specify an item on the display panel, it is highlighted like
this:

1. Original mode, Image Density
and Special Original mode.
2. Operational messages.
3. Operational status.
4. The number of originals, copies,
and printed pages.
5. You can register up to two fre-
quently used reduce/enlarge ratios
other than the fixed reduce/enlarge
ratios.
6. Sort, Stack, Staple or Punch
mode.
7. Functions you can select. Press an
item to bring up its function menu
e.g. press
>5HGXFH(QODUJH@ to bring up
the Reduce/Enlarge menu.
8. This indicator shows when toner
has nearly run out.
