More Information about the
Upper Display

The upper display encompasses the CALORIES, HEART RATE,
SmartRate, and a large rectangular program profile display. The
following descriptions explain what appears in the displays.

CALORIES: The estimated cumulative number of calories burned
appears during your exercise session.

HEART RATE: Your heart rate appears if you are using the chest strap
or touch-sensitive handlebar grips. Refer to Heart Rate Features.

SmartRate: A blinking segment indicates the zone your heart rate is in
when you enter your age after choosing a program and hold on to the
touch-sensitive handlebar grips or use a chest strap. Use this display
as a visual aid to keep your heart rate in your preferred zone. Refer to
Using SmartRate.

Program profile display: When you choose a program, the profile
appears during your exercise session. A blinking segment in the profile
indicates your position.

During a workout, the program profile raises or lowers according to
which RESISTANCE arrow key is pressed. The column height
changes according to the settings shown in Diagram 3. In most
programs, the program profile is affected by the RESISTANCE arrow
keys with the exception of the Basic HRC Program.
